SUMMARY:PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary to Host a Viewing of “25 Cats of Qatar” Film
DESCRIPTION:Lights\, camera\, meow! PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary (PURRR) – a nonprofit organization with a mission to transform cats’ lives one PURRR at a time\, through rescue\, adoption\, and spay + neuter initiatives – invites the community to a viewing of the film\, “25 Cats of Qatar\,” directed by Mye Hoang\, at Savor Cinema on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available for $15. \nGuests will have the opportunity to meet and greet with the PURRR team to learn more about the nonprofit’s work and mission. “25 Cats of Qatar” Director Mye Hoang will be at the reception immediately after the movie to meet and greet with guests. \nFounded in 2018\, PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to transform cats’ lives one PURRR at a time\, through rescue\, adoption\, and spay + neuter initiatives that help reduce overpopulation and ultimately enrich the human-feline connection. PURRR is committed to giving cats and their companions a better future by offering a safe haven and encouraging responsible pet ownership. \nPURRR’s team and volunteers bring a wealth of experience and compassion to everything they do. From adoptions to spay + neuter services\, every aspect of PURRR is driven by a deep love for cats and a commitment to their well-being. \n“25 Cats of Qatar” Synopsis: Qatar is one of the world’s wealthiest nations\, and its rapid growth is powered by migrant workers who make 89% of the population. But underneath the luxurious surface lies an overwhelming street cat population where disease is rampant\, the heat is extreme\, and expats are burdened to help the struggling felines. \nWhen an American flight attendant and cat cafe owner becomes aware of the crisis\, she hatches a plan to fly 25 cats to Milwaukee\, where her cat cafe provides a pipeline for adoption. Presenting a microcosm of a global crisis\, the film asks searching questions about animal welfare\, all within a ticking-clock narrative about the nuts and bolts of a rescue mission. It is both an urgent wake-up call and a heartwarming story of overcoming international barriers for a common goal. \nThrough its “Find Your One” process\, PURRR’s team helps future cat moms and dads find their soul cat and guides them every step of the way. With over 150 adoptable cats\, the PURRR team knows every cat – their personality\, history\, quirks and what kind of home they need to become themselves fully. Whether future cat parents are seeking a playful and energetic kitten\, a calm and cuddly adult cat\, or a wise and gentle senior\, PURRR’s diverse selection of feline friends ensures there’s a perfect match for every home. Soul cat profiles built around personality are available on each feline friend in PURRR’s care. \nThe “Find Your One” experience starts with filling out an application to help PURRR’s team understand the adoptee’s preferences\, lifestyle\, and what they’re looking for in a cat companion. Within 48 hours\, a PURRR team member will schedule a meet and greet for the chance to see firsthand the personalities and quirks of feline residents. After connecting with a potential furry family member\, PURRR schedules a 15-minute in-home\, educational consultation to ensure a smooth integration into the home. PURRR prioritizes the new feline family member’s well-being and conducts a comprehensive final medical examination and bloodwork before taking the lifelong feline companion home. The PURRR team will check in after a week to ensure a smooth transition and address any questions. Beyond adoption day\, PURRR provides support\, resources\, and guidance throughout the journey as a pet owner. \nWhen:\nSunday\, Oct. 18\, at 2 p.m. \nWhere:\nSavor Cinema\n503 SE 6th Street\nFort Lauderdale\, FL 33301 \nCost:\n$15 \nLink: https://www.purrr.org/events/

SUMMARY:POW! Presents Paul Rudnick's "The New Century"
DESCRIPTION:PLAYS OF WILTON! PRESENTS PAUL RUDNICK’S THE NEW CENTURY\nMeet the people you’d never invite to the same party… and thank goodness someone did.\nPlays of Wilton! (POW!) presents Paul Rudnick’s The New Century\, a wildly funny comedy bursting with unforgettable characters\, outrageous laughs and enough heart to surprise you.\nSmart\, silly and gloriously over-the-top\, The New Century brings together a group of people who could hardly seem more different — until Rudnick reveals just how much they have in common.\nThere’s Helene\, an outspoken Long Island mother who proudly proclaims herself the “most loving mother of all time” to her three children; Mr. Charles\, an extravagantly theatrical gay man who has retreated to Palm Beach after discovering that a younger generation of gay men finds him “too gay”; and Barbara Ellen\, a Midwestern craftswoman whose cheerful collection of handmade creations masks the profound loss of a son to AIDS.\nTheir stories begin separately but ultimately collide in unexpected and hilarious circumstances as Rudnick asks where this “new century” might be heading — and who gets to come along for the ride.\nThe result is unmistakably Paul Rudnick: rapid-fire one-liners\, outrageous characters and fearless comedy wrapped around something far more poignant — a look at LGBTQ+ identity across generations\, the families we are born into and create for ourselves\, and the ways humor can help us survive grief\, prejudice and change.\nWhen The New Century premiered at Lincoln Center Theater in 2008\, critics quickly recognized Rudnick’s ability to combine outrageous comedy with genuine emotional weight.\n The New York Times: “The one-liners fly like rockets.” TheaterMania: “A laugh on every line.” New York Post: “Gut-busting one-liners.”\nRudnick has said that he never intended The New Century to feel like simply a collection of unrelated one-act plays\, but rather stories that “intertwine” and build into a complete theatrical experience.\nFunny\, provocative\, touching and proudly excessive\, The New Century is a comedy about people carrying the experiences of one generation into the next — the losses\, the battles\, the absurdities\, the hard-won freedoms and\, above all\, the laughter.\nPOW! alumni returning to The Foundry include Beverly Blanchette\, Michael Gillespie\, Betty Ann Hunt Strain and John Provasnik\, along with director Greg Schuh. Making her POW! mainstage debut is Stephanie Manner.\n“Paul Rudnick manages to be outrageous\, smart and incredibly funny while still finding the heart underneath all those laughs\,” said Joseph Guidetti\, Associate Producer of Plays of Wilton! “The New Century feels like a perfect POW! play — unapologetically gay\, a little outrageous\, and ultimately about people finding a way to understand and love one another.”\n“I first came to know Paul Rudnick through the movie Jeffrey\, but once I discovered his plays\, I fell in love with his writing\,” said director Greg Schuh. “His work is an actor’s and director’s dream — funny\, fearless and deeply emotional — and The New Century takes us on a wonderful ride through growing up\, loving\, coming out and being loved.”\n THE NEW CENTURY – Written by Paul Rudnick – Directed by Greg Schuh\n October 2–25\, 2026 The Foundry at Plays of Wilton! SUMMARY:Figure/Ground
DESCRIPTION:DeGraaf’s studio practice is deeply informed by the Gestalt principles of perception\, particularly the relationship between figure and ground. Rather than presenting a stable or singular image\, his compositions invite viewers to move between what is seen immediately and what slowly emerges through closer observation. Figures and forms are first constructed through recognizable visual structures\, then gradually deconstructed through overlapping shapes\, interruptions\, and spatial ambiguity. This push and pull across the picture plane challenges the eye to continuously reorganize the image\, creating moments where foreground and background compete\, merge\, or dissolve into one another. In doing so\, the work mirrors the way perception itself functions – constantly searching for meaning\, connection\, and wholeness within fragmented experiences.

SUMMARY:In Connection
DESCRIPTION:In Connection brings together a vibrant group of artists from the Coral Springs Art Guild\, who explore the complexity and subtlety of the forces that bind us to each other\, to our communities\, to the natural world\, or to the networks of family and friendship. This exhibition ponders the state of “togetherness” not as something fixed\, but as a living thread\, continuously evolving and often essential. \nWorking across painting\, drawing\, collage\, mixed media\, and photography\, the artists trace personal and collective narratives that speak to connection in its many forms. The Guild members represented here are at diverse stages in their careers\, from emerging voices to dedicated\, long-time practitioners who have sustained a lifelong commitment to artmaking. \nThe Coral Springs Artist Guild is a program of the Coral Springs Museum of Art that brings together dedicated local artiststo exchange ideas and knowledge while nurturing creativity and professional development. Comprised of over 30 members across various generations and backgrounds\, the CSAG provides a platform for thoughtful dialogue\, education\, community building\, and artistic growth. \nExhibition Events \nJuly 16 │6 PM
