SUMMARY:Figure/Ground
DESCRIPTION:DeGraaf’s studio practice is deeply informed by the Gestalt principles of perception\, particularly the relationship between figure and ground. Rather than presenting a stable or singular image\, his compositions invite viewers to move between what is seen immediately and what slowly emerges through closer observation. Figures and forms are first constructed through recognizable visual structures\, then gradually deconstructed through overlapping shapes\, interruptions\, and spatial ambiguity. This push and pull across the picture plane challenges the eye to continuously reorganize the image\, creating moments where foreground and background compete\, merge\, or dissolve into one another. In doing so\, the work mirrors the way perception itself functions – constantly searching for meaning\, connection\, and wholeness within fragmented experiences.

SUMMARY:An Exploration of Color
DESCRIPTION:Since childhood\, Sarah Rocca has been captivated by the power of imagery\, the ability to freeze time and preserve memories through the art of painting with light. Her vivid imagination\, once confined to the colorful worlds she envisioned as a child\, found its voice through digital tools. This fusion of creativity and technology allowed Rocca to bring her unique perspective to life and share it with a broader audience. \nRocca’s use of color serves not only as a visual element but as a narrative device. Through her deliberate color choices\, she conveys mood\, emotion and unspoken subtext\, inviting viewers to engage with each piece on a personal level. An Exploration of Color is a visual memoir\, a journey through Rocca’s experiences of love\, divorce\, depression and joy. Each image encourages the viewer to reflect on how color influences their emotions and to interpret the story it tells through their own lens. \nClick here to learn more of the artist – Sarah Rocca.

SUMMARY:Island City Stage presents the Tony Award-winning Play Eureka Day
DESCRIPTION:Eureka Day\, winner of the 2025 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play\, will close out island City Stage’s 14th season of bold\, inventive storytelling! Don’t miss this smart\, satirical look at parenting\, privilege\, and the minefield of modern communication. Tickets are on sale now for this bitingly funny and startlingly timely play running August 20 – September 13. \nWelcome to Eureka Day\, the ultra-progressive private school in California where every voice matters—until a mumps outbreak turns harmony into hysteria. As tensions rise and Zoom meetings spiral into chaos\, the community must confront the uncomfortable truth: sometimes\, doing the right thing means not pleasing everyone. \nEureka Day premiered at Aurora Theatre Company in Berkeley\, California in April 2018 then moved to New York at Walkerspace the following year. Its European premiere at The Old Vic in September\, 2022 featured Mark McKinney\, Helen Hunt\, Susan Kelechi Watson\, Kirsten Foster and Ben Schnetzer. DESCRIPTION:In Connection brings together a vibrant group of artists from the Coral Springs Art Guild\, who explore the complexity and subtlety of the forces that bind us to each other\, to our communities\, to the natural world\, or to the networks of family and friendship. This exhibition ponders the state of “togetherness” not as something fixed\, but as a living thread\, continuously evolving and often essential. \nWorking across painting\, drawing\, collage\, mixed media\, and photography\, the artists trace personal and collective narratives that speak to connection in its many forms. The Guild members represented here are at diverse stages in their careers\, from emerging voices to dedicated\, long-time practitioners who have sustained a lifelong commitment to artmaking. \nThe Coral Springs Artist Guild is a program of the Coral Springs Museum of Art that brings together dedicated local artiststo exchange ideas and knowledge while nurturing creativity and professional development. Comprised of over 30 members across various generations and backgrounds\, the CSAG provides a platform for thoughtful dialogue\, education\, community building\, and artistic growth. \nExhibition Events \nJuly 16 │6 PM
