Rosaria Vigorito presents her solo exhibition at ArtServe’s Gallery #133, in Fort Lauderdale. The exhibit runs from January 2 – 31, 2019. The opening reception is Saturday, January 12, 2019, 6 – 8 pm.
The exhibit, entitled, It’s in the Eyes, is a contemporary artist’s exploration of the eyes, as the focal point of the portrait, and what they reveal.
At its essence, the face is the first thing we notice in a person. In turn, artists have, since the early cave drawings, tried to capture a person’s essence, through portraiture. Essential, though, is the eyes, poetically referred to as the “windows of the soul,” that captivate the artist and the viewer. Through the eyes, coupled with facial expressions or not, the portrait transcends mere rendering and expresses the universal language of emotions and the soul.
As for the artist:
“I subscribe to the philosophy that art serves as a bridge from our primal essence to our higher selves, and to the divine. As such, my ‘aestus,’ or passionate fire, and underlying motivation are to produce works intended to stimulate the senses, provoke emotional responses, elevate the spirit, and address issues dear to me.”
