The Essence of Luxury

A local developer shares her best tips for creating luxurious living spaces.

Fiorenna Fuentes Stark doesn’t just build and design homes—she curates experiences. Together with her husband, Aldo, they have redefined luxury living in Fort Lauderdale through their company Prestige Design Homes. Known for her modern chic aesthetic, she blends high-end materials with South Florida’s natural beauty. By adding a dramatic backlit onyx bar or displaying a Ferrari in the living room, her designs push boundaries while maintaining warmth and timelessness.

“I would describe my signature style as modern chic,” Fiorenna says, a look that has evolved over the years to include unexpected elements like car galleries that overlook a home’s interior. “I started doing this 15 years ago, and it still never ceases to amaze me.”

Their recent projects, including 671 and 733 Middle River Drive, reflect her ability to balance sophistication with functionality. “We strive to make the ultimate entertainment home. For example, we always do incredible clubrooms overlooking the waterways of Fort Lauderdale with custom chandeliers and a beautiful backlit onyx bar made to entertain,” she says. Backlit onyx and agate are among her favorite design trends right now, appearing in walls, furniture and focal points throughout her projects.

One of her most treasured designs is Casa Maranello, a property sold for a whopping $55 million and where “the beauty of Travertino Avorio around the property” elevates the space. The home also features an indoor wellness center, demonstrating her belief that luxury should be both indulgent and restorative. Another standout is a 10,000-square-foot single-story Coral Ridge home with a six-car gallery, an element that speaks to her affinity for integrating high-end automobiles into residential design.

When we asked for a timeless design tip, Fiorenna keeps it simple: “I tell every homeowner they can’t go wrong with earth tones.” She also swears by using natural stones like onyx and agate to add longevity to a space. For homeowners looking to upgrade their homes with minimal time and disruption, she suggests two things: “An easy way to elevate your space without major renovations is by adding new furniture and light fixtures throughout.” She says lighting is one of the most transformative elements in a home. “Lighting is everything and can completely transform a space.”

Fiorenna advises using a controlled color palette to create a cohesive look. “Stay within three colors, and all will fall into place.” To increase warmth and sophistication, she’s currently loving bouclé textures, which she describes as bringing “so much cozy-chic into the home.”

Her design inspiration doesn’t come from trends alone but also from the world around her. “I travel a lot and become infatuated with everything from beautiful hotels to sightseeing attractions. I feel this helps me stay ahead of the trends.” This global perspective, combined with her connection to Fort Lauderdale’s lifestyle, results in homes as striking as they are livable. “I use a lot of greens and natural stones and woods, along with custom floor-to-ceiling windows to bring in the beautiful weather and views of our waterways.”

For Fiorenna, every detail matters, and her guiding philosophy is simple: “the best or nothing.” It’s a principle that shapes her work, ensuring each project is not just a house but a masterpiece designed to inspire.
