From the Docks to the Driveway

October 2025: Publisher’s Letter

Fort Lauderdale shines this month with the world’s largest boat show, unforgettable Halloween memories and stories that celebrate life on the water.

Some of my most vivid childhood memories were made out on the water. Growing up in Fort Lauderdale, boating wasn’t just a pastime; it was our lifestyle. I spent countless weekends on the boat with my mom, dad and brother, sun-kissed and barefoot, cruising along the Intracoastal with music playing and the salty breeze in our hair. That’s how life felt: free, full and always tied to the sea. And now, I get to relive those same moments with my own children. Watching their joy as we push off the dock reminds me how deeply rooted our love for the water is and how lucky we are to live in a city that revolves around it.

October is special for many reasons, but in Fort Lauderdale, one ranks above all: the return of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the world’s largest. Whether you’re an experienced yachtsman, a curious first-timer or someone who just loves being near the water, there’s nothing quite like Boat Show week. The city comes alive. The docks buzz with excitement. And the innovations on display remind us how far the boating world has come.

This is also our biggest issue of the year, and we spotlight some of the most exciting stories from the marine and design industries. One highlight is the reopening of Pier Top at Pier Sixty-Six, a Fort Lauderdale icon that has returned with elegance, style and those sweeping skyline views we all remember. Also inside: a fascinating look at Rossinavi’s AI-integrated superyacht, a glimpse into the future of boating where sustainability meets cutting-edge design. Stories like these remind us why Fort Lauderdale is a global hub for luxury, innovation and coastal living.

And when the sun sets on the boat show festivities, the celebration continues. We’ve partnered with W Fort Lauderdale for their annual, legendary Halloween party on October 31, and trust me, this is one you don’t want to miss. With costumes, cocktails, live entertainment and that signature W energy, it’s the perfect way to wrap up the month in style. Bring your creativity and your crew, and join us for a night of high-energy fun and ‘90s glam.

Of course, October wouldn’t be complete without a little magic, and for me, that means Halloween with the family. It’s one of my favorite holidays, hands down. From dressing up in full family costumes to trick-or-treating through the neighborhood, I live for the fun, creativity and nostalgia of it all. Growing up, it was all about the thrill of picking out the perfect costume and loading up on candy. Now, it’s about sharing that joy with my kids and watching those traditions continue.

Whether you’re dressing up, dressing down, heading to the docks or dancing into the night, I hope this issue inspires you to make the most of this exciting time of year.

See you out there, and happy Boat Show season!
