Situated on a point lot, a West Indies-inspired home stands adjacent to its generously sized guest house. Before you even enter the main residence, you’ll hear the calming sounds of a waterfall before realizing a living wall attached to the guest home has already welcomed you.
The main home features four bedrooms, four and a half baths, a media room, mudroom, wine vault/cigar room and plenty of waterfront views.
The residence was built for the owners, which means every detail was customized. Design elements and custom finishes throughout evoke the West Indies. To re-create this look, the home features lots of symmetry and abundant windows.
An example of a symmetrical feature appears when you step into the home’s foyer. To the left you get a glimpse of the powder room featuring handmade clay on the wall and to the right, a direct view down the hallway that leads to two bedrooms.
Step into the main living area where a majestic crystal feather chandelier hangs from the 20-foot ceiling above your head. Behind you, on the walls above, Venetian plaster makes a subtle yet impactful statement. At eye level, endless views of the Intracoastal Waterway are enough to whisk you off your feet.
As you walk from room to room, you’ll notice the Parisian white oak in a herringbone pattern that successfully ties all the modern features and natural elements together.
On the right side of the residence, the family room that doubles as the media room features vaulted ceilings and an octagonal shape. This room also provides direct access to the powder room, complete with high-end finishes, and the outdoor area.
Across the home, the chef’s kitchen includes a massive center island and a La Cornue gas range. The open format allows for the dining room to be a few steps away and strategically located for a good view of the outdoors and water. There is also a walk-in wine vault and cigar room close by that features glass doors and beautiful detailing.
Between the main living area and dining room, there’s a cozy bar area with lounge chairs and amazing outdoor views.
One of the two bedrooms downstairs includes a lounging room perfect as an in-laws suite or spacious guestroom. Like all the bedrooms, it features an en-suite bath and outside access with a lanai.
Take a walk up the dramatic half-moon staircase in the main living area and you’ll find one more bedroom, the master suite and an outdoor family room. This common area with a lanai serves as the perfect movie-night spot as it features a 60-inch TV that rises from the cabinet against the wall — not to mention incredible views. This space wraps all the way around to the master suite.
The master suite is equipped with all the luxurious details you would expect in a home like this, plus some added convenience factors. For example, there are automatic doors at the entry and closet. The TV is hidden and drops down from the ceiling with the click of a button. You also have access to the extensive wraparound terrace. As for luxury, a boutique-style walk-in closet features an island, a bench and beautiful chandelier. On the other side, the master bath awaits with a floating tub, his-and-hers vanities and toilets and a walk-in shower with tiles that match the bathroom floor. It includes a sitting bench, steam shower and window.
The outdoor space is one you’ll never tire of. With panoramic Intracoastal Waterway views (you can even see Pier Sixty-Six and the 17th Street Causeway in the distance), you’ll find good use for the lounging areas. They feature a summer kitchen and two fire pits. The nine-foot-deep pool includes a beach entrance with lounge chairs and a swim-out spot with an area to sit and dine right next to a fire pit. In addition, you’ll find a Jacuzzi and putting green on the main dock. Speaking of docks, there are two — both sides are about 140 feet but there has been a 152-foot yacht docked on one side.
The private guesthouse features two bedrooms and two baths with custom designer finishes throughout, a two-car garage and views of the dock, putting green and, of course, the water. Upstairs, the open space format allows for the kitchen, living area and dining space to sit comfortably together along with a balcony to enjoy the views.
