Masterpieces for a Mission

A night of art and charity is making an impact in our community for the third year in a row.

The third annual Fort Lauderdale Art Gala hosted by Rcamm Art and the Cammarata Family will again benefit Kids in Distress (KID). The elegant evening, presented by Holman Motorcars, takes place this year on December 11. It will feature a private contemporary art experience from ABRA Gallery of Las Olas, live entertainment from Mitch Franco, exquisite food and drinks paired with an exclusive wine tasting from Nickle and Nickle Winery, a silent auction and a raffle for a Roberto Coin gold and diamond necklace from Robinson’s Jewelers. Fort Lauderdale Art Gala (FLAG) began when Ross Cammarata, of Rcamm Art, was inspired to make a positive impact in the Fort Lauderdale community by giving back. As soon as he started putting the event together, he thought of Kids in Distress. “KID is an amazing organization based in Fort Lauderdale and supports more than 20,000 families and children at risk,” says Cammarata. The group is dedicated to preventing child abuse, preserving families and treating children who have been abused or neglected.

KID’s Fort Lauderdale location consists of a multiple-program campus on five acres. They also have another location in Southwest Ranches. The organization offers services like foster care, preschool, aftercare and summer camp programs and family counseling.

Cammarata, the financial advisor and founder of Rcamm Art, wanted to use his talent and love of art for good. “My vision was to bring great people together for an intimate evening of exquisite food, drinks and fine art to support a significant cause, Kids in Distress,” he says. “The Fort Lauderdale Art Gala was that indeed. Creating [FLAG] was to bring the enjoyment of art and togetherness to Fort Lauderdale in a luxurious atmosphere to raise money for philanthropy and specifically Kids in Distress.”

A unique feature added to this year’s event is live music by Mitch Franco. Franco’s performances keep the exuberance and class of the Rat Pack alive. He covers songs by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and more. Since age 13, he has toured internationally and performed for a roster of celebrities, moguls and private high-end functions.

This year’s presenting sponsor is Holman Motorcars. “Holman Motorcars and FLAG are a perfect fit, bringing luxury to the world while helping a great cause,” says Cammarata. Their partnership began last year when Holman Motorcars donated an Aston Martin DBX to the event; it was painted by the featured artist and unveiled in the Holman showroom. “They are a wonderful partner and we are excited to build this year’s event together,” Cammarata says.

This year’s exclusive gala will be held at Coral Ridge Country Club beginning at 6pm. “Coral Ridge Country Club is Fort Lauderdale’s preeminent private country club. The prestige and ambiance bring a special vibe to the Fort Lauderdale Art Gala,” says Cammarata. “It brings world-class service, food and drinks to an elegant level.”

The black-tie optional event will feature an eclectic collection of artwork in a variety of media by ABRA Art Gallery. Offerings will include original acrylic and oil paintings, limited edition archival prints and contemporary sculptures.
