Secret Sauce

Spatch (pictured above), 3848 N Federal Hwy., spatchperiperi.com, 954.607.1703
Don’t be a chicken – try it hot. Spatch is a sleek, family-friendly sit-in serving up healthy, hormone-free chicken. The restaurant has created five signature sauces using the African bird’s-eye chili pepper, peri-peri. The menu focuses on peri-peri marinated grilled chicken; customers can choose from the selection of peri-peri sauces, white or dark meat and a selection of sides. The menu also offers platters, bowls, salads and sandwiches. Try the Spatch sandwich – grilled chicken thigh, sharp cheddar, coleslaw, house pickles, sweet hot peppers, and Spatch Peri-mayo. There’s also a children’s menu in case the peri-peri’s too spicy for the little ones. Grownups feeling the spice can wash it down with local craft beer.

Get Naked

Naked Crab, 1140 Seabreeze Blvd., nakedcrabfl.com, 954.727.7090
Seafood lovers, dive in with no strings attached at the Naked Crab. This upscale casual seafood house from longtime Miami restaurateur Ralph Pagano serves up surf in the newly renovated B Ocean Resort, formerly Yankee Clipper. Expect to see plenty of seafood classics like oysters Rockefeller, baked clams and of course, plenty of crab dishes. This vibrant restaurant offers daily catches and daily crab specials, as well as sushi available at the seafood bar. But if you can’t choose between steak and seafood try the Menage A Trois, a 10oz filet mignon with stuffed crab, shrimp and garlic shrimp. Meanwhile, customers can enjoy a wide selection of drinks from signature cocktails to an extensive wine list.

Obey the Name

EAT, 2150 Wilton Dr., Wilton Manors, eatinwiltonmanors.com, 954.626.0722
If you’re hungry, eat at the right place. The Italian-American deli-restaurant combines modern and traditional cooking that delivers authentic, quality dishes with minimal fuss. This restaurant provides a chic modern atmosphere with artistic touches throughout; check out the Marilyn Monroe mural as you enter. The menu’s equally classic. EAT features classics like pastas, sandwiches and pizzas. Chef recommends the homemade lasagna, which is layered with sliced meatballs, sausages, ricotta, locatelli and mozzarella cheese with tomato sauce. But if you want burgers, they’ve got burgers. Indulge in the hickory barbecue burger made with EAT’s signature barbecue sauce topped with cheese and crispy fried onion strings. Go ahead – grab a menu and EAT.
