On the other side of the pivot front door awaits a view accented by textures that mimic nature’s warmth. The home is designed to invite its surroundings inside; it accomplishes this by incorporating its lush landscaping and waterfront views.
And how do you take the modern contemporary style and convert it into a soft but striking design dream? Just ask the team behind the project, Double P Construction, R-Method and owner Laurence Combrouze. “Every element of this home was thought out in great detail; from the Corten steel façade that welcomes you, to the projection angle of the concealed lights that wash each floating stair tread,” says Nick Terziev, who is the director of operations at Double P Construction.
In order to balance out the narrow lot, the home was designed with an open space format – literally. “Irregular-shaped lots are an opportunity to create interesting architecture,” says Ruben Jimenez of R-Method. “The design of this residence was driven by addressing the angles of the property by juxtaposing the angles to create dynamic massing and spaces.”
The outdoor space is separated from the living area and kitchen by floor-to-ceiling stacking glass sliding doors that won’t let you forget the stunning view of the Intracoastal right in front of you. This creates a breathable space that allows you to interact with nature in a luxurious manner.
The living area transforms into a tropical oasis. Once you get across the steps, you’ll find yourself in the sunken lounge area within the pool’s perimeters, which is still indoors. The “L” shape saltwater pool allows you to take in the waterfront views that surround you. On the side, a summer kitchen with dining area is tucked away so as not to obstruct the natural elements.
“It helps when you have an owner with exquisite taste and a background in custom lighting as well as an architect that is capable of putting his grand vision onto paper that entrusts us, as the builder, to make that vision a reality,” Terziev shares.
The owner, who is the former owner of Delta Light USA and a respected professional in the design world, says her ultimate goal was to create the illusion of “feeling like you’re outside when you’re indoors.” You can see this vision in all aspects – from the main living area to the bathrooms to the bedrooms.
Another important design detail that’s vital to her vision is the lighting throughout. “For me, its main functionality is to help the architecture of the house to achieve its true design purpose,” expresses owner Laurence Combrouze.
Several lighting designers, like Delta Light USA and USAI, were tapped for that. “To do so, Gregory Trinquier, senior lighting designer at Delta Light USA, did a fantastic job in creating the perfect atmosphere of a sleek minimalist house, yet with the warmth of the coastal feeling,” she continued.
On the third floor sits the master bedroom, master bath, fitness area and large wraparound terrace. On the terrace, views are optimized with lounge areas that will make you want to spend most of your days taking in the fresh air and views. The master bath features floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows that are sure to put you in a relaxing state of mind.
Together with the right lighting, an abundance of extraordinary views and greenery, and a dream-team-created design, a house was converted into a serene spa-like and inviting oasis for a family.
“Our goal at Double P Construction is to give our clients the best possible product and service,” says Terziev. “We are dedicated to our client, and in turn, Ms. Combrouze is extremely satisfied with our work and has become the best promoter of our brand.”
