The Phoenix II is the epitome of luxury travel at sea. The Lurssen superyacht accommodates up to 14 guests in seven staterooms, consisting of a master suite, two VIP staterooms, three double cabins and one twin-berth cabin. The German-based builder unveiled this yacht at a staggering 295.7 feet (90.1 meters) in 2010 but the vessel was refitted in 2019. Stretching across a beam of 45.3 feet, the ship ranks as the 35th largest yacht built by the shipyard and the 111th largest yacht in the world.
The shipyard is known for building bespoke yachts, each with its own distinctive features that accommodate each owner’s tastes — and this beauty is no exception. The interior is reminiscent of art deco and Manhattan-style glamour, which was non-negotiable for the owners. Much of the design draws inspiration from New York and its skyline; for example, the barstools in the sky lounge bar feature Empire State Buildings illuminated by uplighters much like the torch held by the Statue of Liberty.
To achieve this level of intricate design detail, the prestigious Winch Design was tapped for the project’s interior and exterior. The main salon features a custom Steinway grand piano, a gorgeous statement-making chandelier and the dining room. Next to the dining room is a wine cellar to elevate any evening. Everything from door handles to the cutlery and miniature art pieces is handmade and one-of-a-kind, also per the owner’s request.
The master suite is in a category of its own. To access the suite, you climb a private spiral staircase that leads to the spacious abode. Being a full beam suite, you get undisturbed views out to sea – which is the whole point, right? The oasis also features his and hers bathrooms in contrasting colors and a private outdoor Jacuzzi.
Phoenix II also includes several resort-like amenities such as a beauty salon, luxury spa, Hammam, indoor movie theater, a 23-foot swimming pool with skylights filtering natural light into the lobby below, a separate Jacuzzi and a gym on the bridge deck overlooking the aft helipad, with a second helipad on the foredeck.
The exterior is much like an adult playground – there’s no shortage of fun or luxury here. Watersports are encouraged as the yacht is equipped with fishing equipment, kayaks, four wave runners and a full complement of diving equipment. Not in the mood for sports? No problem. Onboard, you can enjoy a movie under the stars at the Radio City-inspired outdoor cinema that has a popcorn maker. The pool is surrounded by an oversized swim platform that can be set up as a beach club lounge area. If that’s not enough, you’ll never feel confined as the two touch-and-go helicopter platforms serve as landing strips for the aircraft that whisks you away to wherever you please and returns you just in time for bed. There are also ample sun pads and lounge areas throughout.
As for comfort, you’ll find plenty of spots to kick back and many features dedicated to making life easier. A few examples include an elevator that runs from the lower deck to the bridge deck, and a winter garden that gives you the option of dining in open air or in controlled climate using retractable panels.
