A waterfront Italian villa-inspired home formerly owned by an NBA legend is back on the market. The seven-bedroom house sits on a 13,000-square-foot double lot with 215 square feet of waterfront in Harbor Beach. Chicago Bulls hall of famer Scottie Pippen sold it in September for about $11 million to Shahram and Elka Khaledi, according to real estate website The Real Deal. It has in recent weeks come back on the market, listed at just less than $20 million.
Built in 2004, the home was designed by Russell Stofft, an architect synonymous with South Florida luxury. Stofft touches are obvious before you even walk in. The large front door sits under an arched balcony – that you, Juliet? – and alongside a two-story rotunda. The seven-bedroom home includes eight full and two partial bathrooms, as well as a gym, theater room, club room, wine room and playroom. A master bathroom offers water views and a hot tub bath. Details such as Corinthian columns are sprinkled throughout. For example, columns flank the hallway towards a main living room where more columns guard the sides of a fireplace that is centerpiece of a chandeliered space overlooking the pool. The expansive main kitchen includes two large marble-topped islands.
If a garage that can contain a mere six cars is a worry, rest your mind – with the lifts, it fits 10.
Multiple balconies overlook the expansive waterfront backyard, which includes the large pool with corkscrew waterslide. Near an outdoor kitchen sits the detail that reminds you a basketball legend built this home – a regulation NBA basketball court. Harbor Beach sits minutes from the ocean by boat, and the community offers a marina and private beach access. And let’s be honest – if Juliet and her Romeo had a nice private beach to relax on, things might have gone better for them.
