1. Fort Lauderdale July 4th Spectacular, Noon to 10 p.m.
Kids’ fun including bounce houses and face painting as well as live music, hot dog and watermelon-eating contests and other beach fun will be happening on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The city’s half-hour fireworks spectacular starts at 9:30 p.m. Alternate transportation is encouraged. A water shuttle will pick up between downtown and Las Olas Marina from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. A round trip is $5 per person (active military, people 65 and older and kids under 3 are free.) The Sun Trolley runs from the City Park Garage from 9:30 a.m. to midnight; fares are $1, and a day pass is $3.
2. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Annual 4th of July Celebration , 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Presented by LBTS Volunteer Fire Department, the annual LBTS parade will kickstart the day’s festivities. It’s followed by a family fun-filled day
at El Prado Park and lastly, let the fireworks begin! 10–11:30 a.m.: Parade beginning and ending at the fire station. 11 a.m.–3 p.m.: Family Fun Day at El Prado Park. 9–9:20 p.m.: Fireworks off the beach just north of El Prado Park. lbtsevents.com/events.
3. City of Hollywood 4th of July Celebration, 2 to 10 p.m.
Have a sandy Fourth while enjoying Charnow Park’s splash pad, beach games or just a shady spot under an umbrella. Join in on the live music and entertainment. Just after the sun goes down, the celebration ends with an offshore fireworks display at 9 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to take shuttle buses from two downtown Hollywood garages. The Radius garage is located at 250 N. 19th Ave. The Van Buren Street garage is located at 251 S. 20th Ave. From 8–11 p.m., incoming vehicular traffic to A1A between Hollywood Boulevard and Sheridan Street will be closed. Eastbound traffic on Hollywood Boulevard onto the beach will be diverted to southbound A1A. Northbound traffic on A1A will be diverted to westbound Hollywood Boulevard. 4. Flamingo Gardens Old Fashioned July 4th, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
1950s is the theme for the Flamingo Gardens. Old-fashioned games, 1950s’ costume contests, watermelon and pie eating contests, ’50s music, Fourth of July crafts and more, all for half-price admission! 5. City of Deerfield Beach July 4th Celebration, Noon to 10 p.m.
The fun begins at noon with live music, food vendors, arts and crafts, and a Kids’ Zone. The main attraction starts promptly at 9 p.m. Free parking and trolley pickups will be available at The Cove Shopping Center, 1500 E. Hillsboro Blvd. Trolleys will begin picking up and dropping off starting at 11 a.m. and will run continuously until 5:45 p.m. At 5:45 p.m. all trolley pickups and drop-offs will be stopped until 11:00 p.m. at which time the trolleys will begin running again continuously until midnight. 6. Town of Davie Independence Day Fireworks and Family Fun Day, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
It’s all happening at the Pine Island Park Aquatic Center with fun activities including swimming, inner tube water polo and more. 11 a.m.: Fun foam spray with the Davie Fire Department. 1 p.m.: Dive-in treasure hunt. 3 p.m.: Watermelon eating contest For more information, call 954.327.3927.
