The Best of Fort Lauderdale

  • August 31, 2026
  • Ashley Keshigian Thomas
Every August, as summer winds down and another school year begins, we celebrate the people, businesses and landmarks that make Fort Lauderdale a special place to call home.

The Best of Fort Lauderdale is unique because the winners are chosen entirely by our readers. Voting opens each year on January 1 and continues through March 31, giving the community the opportunity to recognize the businesses, personalities and organizations they believe deserve the honor. The results reflect Fort Lauderdale itself, shaped by the people who live, work and play here every day.

One winner who made me smile this year was Brad Marchand as Best Panthers Player. As a lifelong Panthers fan, this one was especially fun to see. Growing up watching the team and now celebrating two Stanley Cup championships has been something I never imagined as a kid in Fort Lauderdale. Brad has quickly become one of my favorite players, not only for what he brings to the ice but also for the person he is away from the rink. He and his wife have always been incredibly kind, family-oriented and gracious. Seeing him recognized by our readers felt especially fitting.

August also signals the start of another school year, making it the perfect time to congratulate Cardinal Gibbons High School on being named Best High School. As a proud graduate, this recognition holds special meaning for me. For decades, Cardinal Gibbons has helped shape leaders, athletes, business owners and community members throughout South Florida, and its influence continues to be felt across Fort Lauderdale.

Another winner close to our hearts is Shooters Waterfront, which earned both Best Brunch and Best Waterfront Dining. Beyond its exceptional food and beautiful setting, Shooters Waterfront has been one of the most supportive partners of Fort Lauderdale Magazine and our charitable events over the years. Time and again, their team steps up for our community, and we are grateful for their friendship and partnership.

And then there’s Paul Castronovo. Seeing Paul win Best Radio Talk Show Host brought back memories of the Zeta days. For many of us who grew up here, Paul was part of the soundtrack of South Florida. Long before podcasts and streaming services, he kept us entertained during morning drives, and it’s remarkable to see how strongly he continues to connect with listeners today.

As you flip through this year’s winners, I encourage you to note a few of your favorites. Maybe it’s a restaurant you’ve never tried, a local business you’ve been meaning to visit or a familiar name you’re happy to see recognized. One of my favorite parts of Best of Fort Lauderdale is discovering the places and people our readers are passionate about. I’d love to hear which winners resonated with you the most.

Congratulations again to all of this year’s winners, and thank you to every reader who cast a vote between January 1 and March 31. These awards belong to the community, and your participation makes them meaningful.
