Boat Drinks

You’ve got a boat, and you’ve got somebody else to pilot it. Looks like you need a drink.

The Classics

The Shanghai
  • 2 dashes grenadine
  • 3/8 lemon juice
  • 1/8 anisette
  • 1/2 rum

Shake well and strain into a glass.

The Gloom Chaser
  • 1/4 Grenadine
  • 1/4 lemon juice
  • 1/4 Curaçao
  • 1/4 Grand Marnier

Shake well and strain into a glass.


The Local

The Fort Lauderdale
  • 1 1/2 oz. light rum
  • 1/2 oz. sweet Vermouth
  • 1/2 oz. orange juice
  • 1/2 oz. lime juice

Shake all ingredients with ice. Pour over ice and garnish with an orange slice.


The We-Hope-You-Didn’t-Have-Any-Plans-Later

Wilson’s Smash
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. pineapple syrup
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash absinthe
  • 2 oz. rum
  • A pinch of fresh mint

Shake with ice, pour over ice and top off with club soda.

The Painkiller

This is basically the piña colada if the piña colada skipped school and rode a motorcycle.

  • 4 oz. pineapple juice
  • 1 oz. orange juice
  • 1 oz. coconut cream
  • 2 oz. rum

Give all the ingredients and ice a hard shake, then strain into a glass over shaved ice.
