New Categories Sparking Innovation and Dialogue
Experimental Short: Pushing the envelope of narrative, documentary, or animation, this category welcomes submissions that experiment with form, style, or technique. Films exploring science fiction themes, alternate realities, futuristic technologies, or extraterrestrial encounters are highly encouraged. Maximum length: 20 minutes.
Experimental Documentary/Essay Short: A platform for films that document reality or examine unconventional topics through an artistic lens, delving into personal, social, or cultural issues. Maximum length: 20 minutes.
Cinematic Poetry/Video Art: This category seeks submissions that use poetic language, imagery, sound, or video as mediums of artistic expression, creating a lyrical or expressive experience. Music videos are also accepted. Maximum length: 10 minutes.
Animation & VR: Open to films created using traditional animation, stop-motion, 2D, 3D, VR, or 360 techniques. Submissions should convey a story or message without containing violent, sexual, or offensive content. Maximum length: 20 minutes.
AI-Driven Films: Dedicated to films that are 100% AI-generated, showcasing the remarkable capabilities of AI in crafting captivating narratives, visuals, and soundscapes. Maximum length: 5 minutes.
New Media: For groundbreaking works exploring digital landscapes, this category promises to highlight innovative content. Maximum length: 1 minute.
Student Films: Celebrating the creativity and innovation of the next generation of filmmakers. Maximum length: 10 minutes.
Music Video: Honoring the unique blend of sound and visual art, this category is for music videos that tell a story or convey a message. Maximum length: 5 minutes.
Spectrum Stories: Featuring films that reflect the diverse spectrum of human stories, this category aims to break stereotypes and foster cultural dialogue. Maximum length: 10 minutes.
Submission Deadlines and FeesThe festival has set an Early Bird Deadline with discounted fees for submissions across all categories, ensuring accessibility for filmmakers at various stages of their careers. Regular deadlines follow, with slightly higher fees. CAFF is committed to providing a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their work to a broad audience.
