International Day of Play at the Museum of Discovery and Science

Join MODS for International Day of Play, a global celebration of the essential role play has in the lives of children, families and communities. Dive into creativity, imagination and innovation with hands-on STEM activities designed to inspire playful learning and meaningful connection for guests of all ages!

LEGO® Build the Change: Playful Cities

MODS is proud to feature LEGO’s official 2025 International Day of Play theme, “Build the Change: Playful Cities.” Young builders will use their imaginations—and brand-new LEGO® sets—to design dream cities that are sustainable and fun. Create parks, bridges, buildings and more in this dynamic challenge where creativity meets urban design.

MAGNA-TILES® Creative Engineering Stations

Explore the power of magnetism, structural design and Meaningful Play with a variety of classic MAGNA-TILES® sets. From architectural challenges to colorful, freeform builds, guests will engage in hands-on STEa.m.-based activities that encourage creativity, collaboration and innovation. Enjoy interactive stations that invite guests of all ages to push the limits of magnetic play and engineering fun!

Event Highlights Include:

• Collaborative community builds
• Pop-up makerspace activities
• Storytime and play-based learning for early learners
• Celebrate the International Day of Play as MODS transforms into a vibrant playground of innovation, where learning through play sparks curiosity, connection and lifelong learning for every generation.

Plus, uncover the mysteries of Earth’s greatest transformation on an epic journey through final days of the dinosaurs during Expedition: Dinosaur – Rise of the Mammals! This captivating traveling exhibit takes you through the moments before, during and after the extinction event that ended the age of the dinosaurs. Guests will marvel at life-size animatronic dinosaurs and mammals, complete with realistic movements and sounds, and delve into fascinating educational and interactive hands-on activities including cutting-edge paleontology experiences as they journey through extinction, evolution and resilience. Developed by Stage Nine Exhibits and locally sponsored by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the exhibit runs through September 1, 2025.

Experience South Florida’s award-winning attraction featuring 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, a rotating schedule of science shows, learning labs, café, store and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture; the largest clock in Florida. The showpiece of the museum since 1993, this unique timepiece is one of only three in the world.
