Get Spooked

  • October 1, 2016
  • FLMag Staff

In the next few weeks, South Florida will have plenty of Halloween and Day of the Dead events – some full of pageantry, others downright terrifying. We scared up a few of the best.

Enigma Haunt
Location: 1751 N. Military Trail, Boca Raton, info@enigmahaunt.com, enigmahaunts.com
Which level of scare can you handle? Throughout the month of October on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting at 7 p.m., Enigma Haunt presents three breathtaking haunted attractions. One indoor location utilizes two floors and more than 19,000 square feet that takes more than an hour to explore. Admission is $20 for Realms of Terror, $30 for Triple Terror (all three haunts) and $45 for a “R.I.P.” Priority Pass.

Spooky Zoo Nights
Location: Zoo Miami, 12400 SW 152nd St. Miami, zoomiami.org
If you’re a brave soul, prove it on October 28, 29 and 31 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Wilde’s Creepy House. The usually friendly zoo will on these nights feature a zombie-laden tram ride and disturbing pathways. Small children can enjoy ghoulish carousel rides ($2 per ride), candy stations and more. Admission is $14.95 per person.

The River Ghost Tour
Location: 335 SE Sixth Ave., 954.524.4736, stranahanhouse.org
On Sundays at 2: 30 p.m. a Water Taxi river ghost boat tour on New River gives tales of spooky spirits. The hourlong tour includes a visit to the Stranahan House. The tour runs all year for $25 per person ($10 cancellation fee). Reservations are required.

Day of the Dead Celebration
Location: Huizenga Plaza, 32 E. Las Olas Blvd., dayofthedeadflorida.com
A Mexican tradition, a festival that celebrates the dead on Monday, November 2 includes family activities such as face painting, “craft crypt,” music including Mexican and Latin American dance performances, food, an outdoor skeleton ceremony that includes a mariachi band and more.
