In this month of health, smoothies are a great way to eat right but still get some sweet treats. We found a few ingredients that just need to be chucked in the blender and mixed until everything is nice and smooth.
Blueberry Smoothie
It’s January, so no more pie. However we do have some plans for getting your pie filling intake in other ways.
- 12 oz. blueberries. (You can use fresh or frozen; if frozen, you don’t need to add ice.)
- 1 banana
- 1 cup blueberry juice. (Feel free to substitute another fruit juice if you want to mix up the flavors a bit.)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Mango lassi
This tasty treat from the Indian subcontinent works as a dessert or a healthy treat – and lets you help out that one friend who always has bags and bags of mangoes from the backyard tree.
- 1 sliced and peeled mango
- 1 cup milk or almond milk
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tsp honey
- Cardamom to taste
- Cinnamon to taste

- 2 tbsp kelp
- 2 kiwis
- 1 tbsp lemon or lime juice
- 1/2 cup coconut water
- 1/2 cup cucumber
Avocado smoothie
Alas, avocado. Waiting for you to ripen is such agony. But when you are ready – ah, my friend, when you are ready.
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 cup melon pieces
- 1 cup milk or almond milk
Fruit salad in a glass
- 1 cup chopped pineapple
- 1 banana
- 2 tbsp honey
- 3 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 4 cups spinach
