Rebel With a Cause

Car enthusiasts have a new hangout thanks to this local one-stop shop.

Rebel Motor Club is on a mission to build a clan of car lovers while caring for your beauty on wheels. “We are building a community of like-minded auto enthusiasts through a membership-based auto club,” says co-founder Stephen Kelley. Potential members join a wait-list and once space opens, they sign a standard member agreement and pay their dues. The shop then inspects and onboards the vehicle.

The idea for the Rebel Motor auto club came from a long line of car enthusiasts dating back to Stephen’s great-grandparents. “It was a lifelong dream for the Kelley brothers to inherit the business, but life took us down a different path,” says Stephen, who founded the company with his brother, Chad.

However, things turned for the better when Stephen’s wife purchased a classic Ford Bronco in 2007. “After tinkering with classics, we realized that the fun of classic ownership can come with the headaches of ownership, especially finding quality storage, repairs and upgrades,” says Stephen.

Then, a lightbulb went on. “We saw an opportunity to fix the local service and restoration issues,” he says. “We also saw that the underwhelming option for owners that need a storage solution was limited to spending a few hundred dollars a month renting a small warehouse on your own and doing everything yourself to maintain [your classic] — including the hope that it will start up when you want to use it.”

Rebel Motor Club services classics and exotics, and also builds “restomods.” “Restomods can vary depending on what the customer is looking for,” says Stephen. “The projects we love are the ‘full’ restomods. Meaning we strip the car down to its bones and rebuild the entire car with modern technology, so it’s like buying a brand new car with the amazing look of the classics.

“When we are not working on a member’s vehicle, we are building our own restomods. [We’re] currently building a 1969 Mustang Fastback. Just finished a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro,” he says.

Club membership comes with various perks. “All members enjoy climate-controlled, secure storage of their vehicle; priority access to our professional technicians at member rates for service, maintenance or upgrade work; access to our members’ lounge at any time; invites to our member events; access to rent our event space at member rates and a membership to Jeevz personal driver service,” says Stephen. They also offer full-service vehicle storage, maintenance, upgrades, concierge pick-up and drop-off and more.

A unique aspect of this auto club is its fabulous event space, which is open to the public. The beautifully designed area features ample room with upscale lighting and the best decor of all — a glass display of the exotics and classics housed in the shop.

“Rebel Motor is a unique place,” Stephen says. “You gotta come by to really understand it.”
