Fort Lauderdale just landed on the Monopoly map — literally. City officials, business leaders and one well-dressed Mr. Monopoly gathered at the Riverside Hotel to unveil MONOPOLY: Fort Lauderdale Edition, a customized take on the iconic board game.
Produced under license from Hasbro, the company behind the game, this special edition swaps out Atlantic City’s familiar properties for Fort Lauderdale’s cultural landmarks, historic sites and local businesses. Even Community Chest and Chance cards have been reimagined to capture the essence of the city, making the game more than just a collectible; it’s a tribute to one of Florida’s most beloved destinations.
“We appreciate all those who suggested landmarks, organizations and businesses that make Fort Lauderdale unique and truly special,” said Sarah Bowman, a Hasbro representative. “So many of them raced in to win the opportunity for a place on the board.”
Players can now stroll among Fort Lauderdale’s finest, with spaces featuring NSU Art Museum, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, Shooters Waterfront, Brightline and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, among others. Whether you’re collecting rent at Historic Stranahan House, investing in Fort Lauderdale Collection South or taking a chance on the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, the game brings the city to life — minus the Las Olas traffic.
So grab the dice, choose your token and see if you have what it takes to own a piece of Fort Lauderdale — at least until the next
game night.
