1. Stache Drinking Den and Coffee Bar
109 SW 2nd Ave.
As this was being written, Stache was looking to reopen and was in the meantime running its pop‑up liquor store. When we can get back into the main bar, we’ll bask in its slightly off‑kilter speakeasy vibe and genuinely amazing whiskey selection. For a price, you can even order a glass of Pappy Van Winkle, the whiskey so rare that liquor stores hold lotteries to see who gets to buy some.
2. CJ Blacks
11300 W State Rd. 84
We sometimes feel like we need a master’s degree in whiskeys when we try to read this Davie restaurant’s amazing whiskey list. You can try something new every time from the expansive menu, or you can find a favorite you never heard of before. The menu’s equally eclectic – you don’t find many places that have a big burger menu, excellent steaks and a sushi menu.
3. Whiskey Neat
1035 SE 17th St.
Whiskey Neat shares a courtyard and an ownership group with the 17th Street location of longtime Lauderdale favorite Quarterdeck. (The bar doesn’t have its own kitchen, but you can order food from its across-the-courtyard neighbor.) Bartenders know the menu and won’t mind climbing the big library ladder to get some literally top-shelf tipple from the wall of whiskey behind the bar.
