If you’re looking for the best places to spot holiday lights, soak up the festive atmosphere and maybe even see Santa, you’ve come to the right place.

1. NOV. 21 – JAN .1

Holiday Fantasy of Lights

Tradewinds Park’s gloriously lit holiday tradition returns. Drive through three miles of enchanted holiday-light fantasy – and for extra fun, wear 3D glasses for special surprises. (Glasses are available at the display’s entrance at two pairs for $3.)


2. DEC. 5

Christmas-By-The-Sea
WHEN: 5:30 to 8:30pm
WHERE: Anglin’s Square, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea
ADMISSION: Free

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea’s annual Christmas event always includes lots of great food, arts and crafts and music. The Christmas tree gets lit up – and Santa himself can be counted on to make a grand entrance.


3. DEC. 16–23

Victorian Christmas and Holiday River Tour
WHEN: 7pm. Later tours may be added.
WHERE: The Stranahan House
ADMISSION: $35

The city’s most famous 19th-century home celebrates that century with live music, festive décor and Victorian costumed docents. Finish the evening with a boat ride to check out the Christmas lights along the New River.


4. DEC. 21

Winter Solstice Boat Ride
WHEN: 7 to 9 pm
WHERE: The Historic New River Inn; boat leaves from nearby dock
ADMISSION: $59 ($49 for Fort Lauderdale Historical Society members)

Enjoy food and drink at the inn before setting off for an evening of looking at the holiday lights and hearing tales of Old Fort Lauderdale.
