Acai Bowls to Try in Fort Lauderdale

  • January 5, 2023
  • Gisel Abrahams
The New Year means getting your goals straight which usually involves healthy eating. Get your fruit servings in with these fun concoctions.

1. Raw Juce

1900 N Federal Hwy., 954.376.3007, rawjuce.com
Arguably the best acai bowls in the area, this South Florida local establishment travelled its way up to our city. What makes their fruit bowls so special? They mix your choice of milk (almond or oat) into the acai base of the bowls making it creamy with a unique but delicious consistency. Acai bowls include: the Cookies and Cream Doe (banana, coconut, Almond Mylk, hemp and flax seed granola, brownie crumble, protein blended and topped with banana, brownie crumble, hemp and flax seed granola, cacao nibs, vanilla maple sauce and chocolate hazelnut sauce). They also have fusion green bowls, cold-pressed juice and smoothies.

2. Playa Bowls

1615 N Federal Hwy., 954.928.8971, playabowls.com
Founders Robert and Abby are longtime surfers and beach lovers. They were inspired by their many trips to exotic beach locations including Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, California and Hawaii. Each destination featured its own spin on acai or pitaya bowls. When they came back home, they were inspired to recreate their versions of some of their favorites. The menu features a wide variety including banana bowls like the Nica Bowl (banana blend topped with granola, banana, cocoa nibs, walnuts, strawberry and peanut butter).

3. JB & C

924 N Flagler Dr., 954.368.2718, jbcflorida.com
Flagler Village’s newest addition comes in the shape of healthy smoothies, fruit bowls and avocado toasts. The beautifully Instagramable location is complimented by the healthy, organic fresh food served. JB&C also offers a modifiable menu with vegetarian and vegan options.

4. Myapapaya

1040 Bayview Dr. & 2528 N Federal Hwy., myapapaya.com
Known for their healthy take and a lot of delicious dishes, Myapapaya has great acai bowls (and pitaya) that will keep you coming back for more. The freshly-made treats are made on-site. Menu items include: the Brazilian Acai Bowl (organic acai, banana, blueberry, fresh strawberry, fresh apple juice, topped with Mya’s granola, pineapple, banana, goji berry, shaved coconut, honey) and the Pitaya Bowl (dragonfruit, strawberry, banana, house-made almond butter & almond mylk topped with Mya’s granola, energy crumbles, goji berry, shaved coconut, bee pollen).

5. TropiBowls

1520 E Commercial Blvd., Oakland Park, 954.530.4913, tropibowls.com
This healthy hot spot located in Oakland Park brings anything you need to satisfy a craving without breaking any diets. They offer acai bowls, salads, smoothies, paninis, oatmeal bowls, avocado toasts, pastries and coffee. Notable menu items include the Eggcetera Avocado Toast (toast, avocado spread, turkey, asiago cheese, poached eggs and paprika-infused olive oil) and the I’m Going Coco Coconut Bowl (raspberries, almonds, honey, white chocolate chunks, kiwis, Nutella and coconut flakes).

6. Press & Grind Café

474 N Federal Hwy., 954.909.5316, pressandgrindcafe.com
Family owned and community driven, Press & Grind Café has opened its doors in Fort Lauderdale. Press & Grind supports local businesses and has partnered with Argyle Coffee Roasters, Gran Forno Bakery and Aroa Yogurts, among others to bring guests fresh and tasteful food. The welcoming coffee shop serves a variety of fresh-pressed juices, single-origin coffee and teas. It also includes imported açai and a full chef-inspired menu with healthy eats such as sandwiches and salads. It is the perfect hangout spot with delicious food, great atmosphere and incredible service.

7. SoBe Vegan

401 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., 954.368.4640, sobev.com
Located inside the W Fort Lauderdale hotel, the quick and casual plant-based restaurant features healthy but tasty cuisine. They offer salads, power bowls, hot dogs and sausages, fries, shakes, coffee, beer and wine. Notable menu items include the buffalo bowl (crispy buffalo tenders, cherry tomatoes, diced carrots, celery, kale/quinoa blend and spicy blue cheese dressing) and the queso burger (SoBe Vegan cheese sauce, pico de gallo, fresno chili, crispy tortillas and lettuce).

8. Gourmet Café & Juices

6139 N Federal Hwy., 954.626.0452, gourmetgardencafe.com
Healthy and sweet is a thing. Not every treat has to call up a mental image of your doctor sadly shaking her head. Gourmet Garden’s one of our favorite smoothie stops (they also do excellent, healthful meals). They’ve got a fun smoothie menu, although often we’re more in a mood to build our own. Sweetness of our own devising – sweet!
