The 305 might be the prime spot for Cuban sandwiches, but the 954 can hold its own. There’s no inside seating at this one-of-a-kind spot, nor should there be. In front of what’s basically a small house, a bar runs the length of the building overlooking Andrews. Order there from the cooks working hard behind the counter, then grab a seat at the bar or head out back. To the side and around the back sits ramshackle outdoor seating interspersed with photos of Cuba and eclectic objects and design. It all gives the place a remote-village feel – and the massive sandwich you’ll get can easily be shared between two.
Tropical Café Restaurant

The sign out front of this little place in the Searstown plaza blares “HOME OF THE CUBAN SANDWICH” – and while some in Miami might argue, we won’t. This homey, family-oriented café has a vibe that’s part Caribbean, part diner. Their menu includes plenty of breakfast foods as well – but for the house specialty, follow the advice of the sign.
Colada Cuban Coffee House & Eatery

Federal between Northeast Sixth Street and Northeast Fourth is quickly becoming a densely packed area of cool, diverse eateries, with everything from Asian to Italian to ale. One of the more unique places is Colada. It’s a coffee-aplenty breakfast joint in the A.M. that does good craft beer later on – and at the heart of it is some tasty Cuban food. Including, it goes without saying, the sandwiches.
