Back to Greece

Nisi, 3330 E Oakland Park Blvd., 954.200.6006, nisigroup.com
Familiar location, similar cuisine – but a new restaurant. What used to be Thasos Greek Tavern is now Nisi, a place specializing in contemporary Greek influences and global flavors. A raw bar has been installed, and the Greek menu serves up plenty of interesting dishes. Start with an appetizer of grilled Mediterranean octopus served with gigante bean puree, then move onto the impressive selection of daily catches on display. The Mediterranean experience might also require special cocktails like Mediterranean Tea or the Mykonos Mai Tai. End with a great Greek dessert – baklava with chopped almonds, pistachios and cinnamon sugar. This sleek restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

Healthy Your Way

Farm to Fork Meal, 953 E Oakland Park Blvd., 954.368.8796, farmtoforkmeals.myshopify.com
A healthy eating diet can require a lot of prepping and cooking that you may not have the time for. A new business wants to make your eating habits a whole lot easier by delivering those healthy meals right to your door. Farm to Fork Meals is an organic food home delivery service that specializes in creating healthy meal plans for your lifestyle. Their different meal plans include the Fit meal plan, Paleo and Vegetarian. Each meal is prepped according to your dietary needs. Once you place your order, a Farm to Fork Meals menu consultant contacts you to discuss any special requests. The meal plan combinations include breakfast and lunch plus dinner or just lunch and dinner. If you only want breakfast or dinner, that is also an option. Five days’ worth of meals are delivered on Mondays and Wednesdays. No need to be bored with your meal – the menu changes every week.

Meat Mania

Trio Bistro Restaurant Bar & Grill, 2861 E Commercial Blvd., 954.990.4539, restaurant-trio.com
There’s a new restaurant bringing a different kind of European flavor to Commercial Boulevard. Trio Bistro restaurant and bar specializes in the cuisine of Bulgaria and neighboring countries. Their menu offers a wide variety of traditional Bulgarian and southeast European dishes including Plieskavica (a sort of Balkan burger); thin, spiral-shaped karnache sausages; traditional Romanian mititei sausages made from ground beef, pork and lamb; and kiufteta ground pork patties. If you get the meat sweats just reading that, know that they also do interesting salads including one with strained yoghurt, diced cucumbers, garlic, dill and walnuts. Similar ingredients also go into making a traditional Eastern European cold soup. If that sounds like too much adventure, the menu also features dishes such as lamb chops and the Brooklyn Burger.
