Pathos for Ethos

Ethos Greek Bistro, 2055 Wilton Dr., Wilton Manors, ethosbistro.com, 754.999.0034
This chic Greek casual dining spot on Wilton Drive offers outside seating so people can enjoy a meal in true Greek village style. Big and small plates include starters from falafel, pork belly and stuffed grape leaves with hand-rolled rice and fresh herbs drizzled with lemon sauce. And if you want to go big and meaty, you came to the right place with dishes like the Greek platter for two – two lamb chops, grilled chicken, gyro, grilled kefte, pork tenderloin, rice and potatoes. Top it off with a Greek dessert such as Galakto-Fantastico, a warm custard wrapped in phyllo dough, topped with cinnamon and honey. And it wouldn’t be a Wilton Drive dining experience without a signature cocktail or two from the excellent bar.

Italian Favorites

Buon Appetito, 1100 NE 4th Ave., buonappetito.us, 954.644.1020
This casual, family-friendly sit-in serves up Northern Italian cuisine and Italian-American dishes. Their menu offers a wide variety of pasta favorites including spaghetti marinara, lobster ravioli and fettucini alfredo as well as a selection of salads, sandwiches and subs, and of course pizza. If there’s a particular pizza you have in mind but it’s not on the menu, they’re happy to let you create your own. And if you’re not feeling the Italian vibe, there’s plenty to choose from off the burger menu, from crispy onion burger to cheddar bacon burger to veggie burger. To satisfy your sweet tooth, their menu offers classics such as tiramisu, cheesecake and crème brûlée.

The Cozy Pod

POD Pazza Osteria Del Duomo, 257-B Commercial Blvd., Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, podbythesea.com, 954.689.6630
This casual cafe greets customers with a mural of Milan Cathedral and a color scheme that relies heavily on the Italian flag colors of green, white and red. The kitchen serves up Italian classics from Milan; the menu starts with bruschettas, caprese and their signature Gnocco Fritto, dough that is fried until puffy and served on a cutting board with a selection of hams and cheeses. And a variety of pasta, ravioli and risotto is also on offer. To complete a Milano meal, indulge in a dessert such as chocolate truffle affogato al caffè, which is a chocolate ice cream covered in cocoa, served drowned in espresso coffee.
