Heaven on Earth

  • April 1, 2018
  • FLMag Staff
In honor of Earth Day – April 22, mark your calendars – here are some everyday beauty products that are good for you and in some cases, better for the earth.

1. Cynthia Rowley CHANGE Limited Edition Suncare Kit by COOLA
Improve and protect your skin and our oceans when you purchase the Cynthia Rowley CHANGE Limited Edition Suncare Kit by COOLA. The brand has partnered up with global lifestyle designer and bestselling author Rowley to support our oceans by donating 100 percent of profits to the Ocean Conservancy. The kit includes an SPF 30 sport lotion, SPF 30 BB cream, SPF 50 tinted sport stick and SPF 30 mineral lip moisturizer. $75, shop.coolasuncare.com.

2. Kakadu C Vitamin C Brightening Kit by Dermadoctor
The Kakadu C line is rich in vitamin C stemming from Kakadu plums. According to Dermadoctor, this fruit contains 55 times more vitamin C than Florida’s oranges. The kit includes a daily cleanser, a serum and an eye cream. Each product is dye-free, cruelty-free, soap-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free. (Oh, and keep eating Florida oranges anyway. Just because Kakadu plums have more vitamin C, that doesn’t mean they’re not awesome.) $129, Nordstrom.

3. Gel Lab Pro Nail Polish by Deborah Lippmann
Here’s some kinda gross science: fingernails and toenails have pores, and pores soak up anything you put on them. So in the same way we watch what we put on our face, we should also be keen on what goes on our nails. Deborah Lippmann’s Gel Lab Pro Nail Polish gives you all the benefits of using gel polish (long-lasting, chip-free) while leaving out the elements that are harmful to our nail beds. $20, Sephora.

4. Amazingreen by Comme des Garcons
The ultimate green fragrance by Comme des Garcons captures the nuances of earthy scents. The top notes include palm tree leaves, green peppers and dew mist, while the subtle notes are ivy leaves, Orris roots and sweet coriander. $131, Nordstrom.

5. Fable Terrific Scented Candle by Ellis Brooklyn
The soy blend used to create the sustainable Ellis Brooklyn candles allow them to burn cleaner than the average candle (most are made using paraffin). Not only that, the soy is domestically grown and the wick is made of hemp, which is more sustainable than cotton. Even the glasses are handmade! $60, Sephora.
