Herbal Essence

Some of the most well-known herbs and spices in your kitchen can do more than add flavor to dinner. If you’re looking for a natural method to improve your health or prevent illness, think about including these in your diet. Remember to take them with moderation.

Sage

Sage

Sage has the ability to improve cognitive disorders from Alzheimer’s disease to dementia and also helps with memory retention and concentration in learning. This herb is effective against skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis and acne. Sage also contains Vitamin K, which is a vital element that helps increase bone density when aging. It’s a no brainer; add sage to your diet so you can feel and look good.

Ginger

Ginger

Originating from China, this herb is commonly ingested as a juice, tea and powder. The popular spice treats nausea, reduces muscle pain and soreness, serves as an anti-inflammatory, improves heart disease, lowers blood sugar and cholesterol levels, reduces menstrual pain, and increases brain function and memory. Basically, you should just include ginger in your everyday diet.

Lavender

Lavender

This soothing plant is often used for decorating purposes and calming effects of its soothing scent. But not many know that it has other healing properties. They include decreasing dandruff, depression, headaches, bloating and itchiness while improving urine production, sleep, lung function and blood circulation. Herbes de Provence is a spice-mix that includes lavender — it can be added to cooked meats, poultry and vegetables.

Honey

Honey

There’s more to honey than adding it to your secret barbecue sauce. Honey contains flavonoids and antioxidants that help reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. Studies show that honey is also successful in healing wounds and burns. And if you have a cold, honey can help reduce cough and throat irritation. Honey is also helpful for improving bronchial asthma, eyesight and weight loss.

Turmeric

Turmeric

The spice that gives curry its yellow pigment also has some great health benefits. It can be used to increase antioxidant levels in the body, improve brain function and lower the risk of brain disease, cure upset stomach pains, and is even linked to fighting and preventing cancer.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a delicious ingredient that’s used in America’s favorite dish, apple pie, and in other pastries. However cinnamon can also help fight infections and heal tissue damage. This herb helps reduce heart disease, cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure. Cinnamon has shown signs of improvement for Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease as well.
