El Camino de Las Olas

El Camino, 817 E Las Olas Blvd., 954.530.1188, elcaminoftlauderdale.com
A modern take on Mexican food has hit Las Olas in a big way – 6,000 square feet to be exact. The highly anticipated Mezcal and tequila bar offers a modern take on “Mexican soul food” and also has more than 400 varieties of tequila and Mezcal along with specials like $3 margarita Mondays and $2 taco Tuesdays. Unique dishes include Swiss chard and hongos quesadillas (herbed mushrooms, Swiss chard, queso blanco and ranchero sauce), smoked brisket enchiladas and Nutella flan. They’ve also partnered up with Funky Buddha to create a New England-style IPA, which is available at the restaurant.

Sub-stantial Flavors

Subs and Suds, 601 SW 12th Ave., 954.652.1971, facebook.com/Subs-Suds-171850660035444
From the name, you can probably figure out that Subs and Suds is getting in on the craze of food and beer pairing. The shop makes it easier for customers as the menu already has the recommended craft beer to go with each sandwich. For example, you can pair a Honolulu pork sandwich with Japanese barbecue sauce, spicy pineapple pico and fennel-cabbage slaw on a sweet hoagie roll with Big Swell IPA by Maui Brewing Company. The space includes a large patio to enjoy a cold one with some fresh air.

(17th) Street Food

17th Street Thai Sushi, 1515 SE 17th St., 954.994.1717, 17thaisushi.com
The owners of Sky Thai Sushi have opened another delectable Asian dining spot in Fort Lauderdale. 17th Street Thai Sushi stays true to the beautifully plated and carefully crafted cuisine that Sky Thai is known for. Their dishes include a variety of tapas, cucumber wrapped rolls, sushi boats and more. Menu favorites include the Pad Thai Lobster, pasta sautéed with lobster tails, egg, bean sprouts, scallions and peanuts; and the Five Spice Pork with the traditional Asian flavors of five-spice powder, mustard, ginger and hoisin sauce.
