Style and function center on the kitchen in this home with hints of Gallic flair.

When the time came for a Victoria Park couple to remodel their home, they looked no further than to Allied Kitchen and Bath. Andy Fischman, who was appointed the lead designer for this project, says, “Overall, we wanted to honor the character of the house – that was the big goal from the get-go. The homeowners wanted to create a modern Parisian feel but still maintain that cottage vibe. We wanted to try and merge the elements so the decorative details like the crown moldings was one of the ways that we brought that concept to life.”

The details you see throughout the home, such as the crown molding, pearl white finished cabinetry and chevron-laid American white oak wood flooring, are what Fischman considers timeless. “When people say, ‘I want something timeless,’ these are the kinds of styles that stick around,” he says.

“In this specific project, with the quirkiness of the house, it wasn’t your typical work triangle of a kitchen,” says Fischman, who has been with Allied for 15 years. “We placed the refrigerator in the center where it’s hidden and looks like an armoire. It was an interesting space to work with to figure out how we were going to redefine the space as part of the remodel of the kitchen.”

The company name says “kitchen and bath,” but they don’t stop there when it comes to bringing your visions to life. For example, they also work on closets. “The closet was an interesting space because it’s one closet for two persons to share,” Fischman says. They wanted to balance the masculine and the feminine at the same time. The dark-colored cabinets were the masculine factor and the glam came from the lights. “The chandelier balances it with the feminine side of things. She almost wanted it to have this boutique feel.”

Fischman gets the most satisfaction from his job through his clients’ positive reactions to the final product. He also loves working one-on-one with clients who want to be involved.

“I was very lucky that this client had exquisite taste,” he says. “She had a definitive decision in where this project was headed stylistically so she played a vital role in the process of the design and she was very effective in her selections and making very smart and tasteful choices.”

The process was helped by the fact that Allied is a kind of one-stop shop.

“As the process unfolds, once all of the design details are finalized and the scope of work is determined, our company sort of changes hats,” Fischman says. “We are also general contractors so one of the unique things about our firm is that we’re a design-build firm. It lets us have control of the project from start to completion, which is a very effective way to remodel. It’s all under one roof.”

Allied With Quality

For Bill Feinberg, community is at the heart of what Allied Kitchen and Bath does.

“It’s given me the opportunity to get involved with the community in so many ways,” says Feinberg, who founded the company 33 years ago with his brother, Joe.

“I think being actively involved in so many facets of the business and our community – that’s the greatest reward.” He takes his community involvement seriously, too. As part of the Economic Advisory Board of the City of Fort Lauderdale and a board member of Habitat for Humanity, he wants to make sure he gives back in more ways than one.

Bill Feinberg likes to oversee each job firsthand to make sure everything runs smoothly. “Running a successful business, especially in the construction industry, reputation is paramount so my reputation every day has to be the best that it can be,” he says. “I tell customers you may meet with a designer today, but there’s probably 20 of us who are going to touch your job within our company – that doesn’t even include all the subcontractors that we use.”

As a business owner, Feinberg prides himself on the team he put together because of this. “The entire team is involved in the project; you know, together everyone achieves more and that’s what being a team is all about. It’s the team – that’s what makes it all work.

“When you hire Allied, you are hiring a company that is very honest, very transparent and has a commitment to excellence. So I tell people, ‘Listen, if you’re in a rush, we’re not for you. If you won’t do it legally with permits, we’re not for you.’ Our name goes on it. Everything we do is about the quality of the job.”
