Local pastry shop D’Liras is a destination guaranteed to brighten anyone’s day with a special treat. Whether it’s starting your morning with a freshly brewed coffee and made-to-perfection croissant, a midday pick-me-up with one of their handcrafted desserts or an indulgent glass of wine while enjoying the sunset, they know the little things can make a big difference.
“Our baking heritage and love for baked goods filled us with enthusiasm and inspiration for creating a new and creative concept where we could incorporate different approaches, highlighting the origin and quality of our ingredients,” says co-partner and co-owner Mario Ramirez. “All while providing our clientele with a gastronomic experience with gelato, sorbet, delicate desserts and croissants in a contemporary ambiance.”
Ramirez designed the menu with Claudia Suarez, co-partner and co-owner of D’Liras. Suarez has two years of experience owning and operating a restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Ramirez, on the other hand, comes from a baking family. His family owned bakeries for more than 40 years in Bogota, Colombia. He continued his culinary education as the second chef at Bogota’s Cabezas Culinary School in 1980. From there, he studied as a chef and hotel administrator at the École Hôtelière in Geneva, Switzerland. He also took several regional culinary classes in Perugia, Florence and Venice, as well as a recent master class in dough in Guadalajara, Mexico.
D’Liras has created a buzz with their popsicles (they offer cream, 100% natural fruit and alcohol-infused varieties), but you’ll want to try their award-winning croissant. “Our croissant has been the most recommended and has been declared and awarded the Best Croissant in Florida (2023) by the French American Association of Crafts and Trades (FAACT), [and earned] a bronze medal at the Paris Fête du Pain from May 4 to May 11, 2024,” Ramirez says. “Both awards are a testament to our dedication to providing consistency and an intrinsic quality to our work driven by passion and love for our profession.”
