It’s the month of Easter, which means a better-than-usual excuse for brunch and/or chocolate. We picked out a couple of Easter-specific events, as well as several places that can always be counted on for a solid brunch.
Burlock Coast
1 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. (at the Ritz-Carlton)
Feeling ambitious? Then why not try two Easter brunches? Burlock Coast’s brunch happens on Saturday and Sunday, so you can hit it on the Saturday, then go somewhere else on Easter itself. (Or, you know, hit it again.) This always-diverse place doesn’t disappoint for brunch, with plenty of seafood thanks to the raw bar alongside brunch favorites.
The Foxy Brown
723 E Broward Blvd.
It’s right in the middle of everything yet feels somehow tucked away and neighborhood-y. And the brunch is tough to beat, with a creative selection of frittatas and another portion of the menu devoted to various kinds of pancakes and waffles. And if you want to go large, they can help. Check out, for example, the Banger Plate – proper English sausages with fried eggs and potato cakes.
Shooters Waterfront
3033 NE 32nd Ave.
Shooters will again host its annual Easter brunch buffet. The menu includes everything from an “All-American breakfast” to artisanal cheeses to sushi to a prime rib carving station to a kids station. And save room for dessert. Brunch runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a 9:30 a.m. Easter egg hunt led by the Easter Bunny himself. The cost, which doesn’t include drinks, is $59 for adults, $25 for kids 12 and under. Kids 4 and under eat for free.
Steak 954
401 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. (at the W Hotel)
One of the most creative brunch menus you’ll find includes short rib Benedict with potato pancake, a breakfast-style Cuban sandwich and even – wait for it – fancy homemade Pop-Tarts. (Trust us, you’ll never look at the humble Pop-Tart the same way again.) And it’s all on offer at one of the best, most attractive spots on the beach.
Finally, One for the Kids
If an entire brunch is more than you were looking for, you can also help the kids load up on chocolate with an Easter egg hunt. One great one is Wilton Manors’ annual Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt. It’s on Saturday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. at St. Clement’s Church, 225 NW 29th St. There will be a bounce house, pony rides, entertainment, pictures with the main bunny himself and of course, lots and lots of eggs.
