Sun’s Out, Buns Out

Is there a breakfast pastry more messily indulgent than the cinnamon bun? We don’t think so, and we went to three favorite spots to sample some and ask for extra napkins.

1. Lovelee Bakeshop

603 NE 13th St., Suite A; loveleebakeshop.com
This bakery on increasingly happening 13th Street does all sorts of cakes, cookies and other pastries that are, well, lovely. But on Saturdays and Saturdays only, they turn their hands to some of the gooeyest, ooeyest, tastiest cinnamon buns you’ve ever had. They’re only open until early afternoon and they can sell out, so we recommend setting a Saturday morning alarm and getting there early.

2. Stork’s Bakery and Coffee

2505 NE 15th Ave., Wilton Manors, storksbakery.com
There’s not much Stork’s can’t do when it comes to baked goods, and their indulgent
cinnamon buns are testament to that. Have one with a cup of excellent Stork’s coffee – and then maybe bring a luscious piece of cake home for later.

3. Archibald’s Village Bakery

608 Breakers Ave., archibaldsvillagebakery.com
Cinnamon buns are strictly a weekend treat at this charming North Beach Village spot. Archibald’s carries itself with an aura that’s part European side-street patisserie, part cool-yet unpretentious Seattle neighborhood coffeehouse. The regular menu’s a dream – and on Saturdays and Sundays, ooooh, the cinnamon buns are to die for.
