Steel of a Deal

Blue Steel Pizza Co., 2460 E Commercial Blvd., 954.228.8365, bluesteelpizzaftl.com

The pizza joint located right on Commercial serves more than just Detroit-style pizza. For instance, they offer elevated cocktails like the Miami’s Most Wanted (Plantation Pineapple Rum, dark rum, Wray Nephew Overproof rum, grapefruit honey, black pepper, fresh lime and mango) and the Scorpion Bite (Spiced Rum, Orange Vermouth, Mezcal, Nigori Sake, fresh lemon, orange juice and guava) which requires a two-person minimum to order – rightfully so. As for food, they offer crab fries, ceviche, burgers and a Detroit-Style Bread Pudding (sweet caramelized plantain, vanilla ice cream, pistachio crunch, caramel sauce and Detroit bread dough). Of course, let’s not forget the main reason you came here in the first place – pizzas like the Burrata (vodka sauce, shredded mozzarella, brick cheese, prosciutto and hot honey) is something you won’t want to miss.

Raw & Real

Arguably the best acai bowls in the area, this South Florida local establishment travelled its way up to our city. What makes their fruit bowls so special? They mix your choice of milk (almond or oat) into the acai base of the bowls making it creamy with a unique but delicious consistency. Acai bowls include: the Cookies and Cream Doe (banana, coconut, Almond Mylk, hemp and flax seed granola, brownie crumble, protein blended and topped with banana, brownie crumble, hemp and flax seed granola, cacao nibs, vanilla maple sauce and chocolate hazelnut sauce). They also have fusion green bowls, cold-pressed juice and smoothies.

We have come across some locals who were sad to learn the Primo Hoagies on Federal closed. Well, we have some good news for you, a location just opened on 17th street. They’ve got all your favorites: the Diablos, the Schwartzies, the Philly cheesesteaks and more. We can’t forget their specialties like the R Special (natural casing Genoa salami, hot capicola topped with pepper shooters).
