Walking into high-end fashion boutique Monkee’s feels like you’ve entered a kaleidoscopic dream of bright colors and pops of gold. And if you’re into the latest trends and embrace the signature color palette of South Florida style, this place is a bonanza.
“Each Monkee’s is designed to feel like you are shopping in your girlfriend’s living room, including beautiful millwork and a comfortable sitting area to try on shoes or sit and chat,” shares the Fort Lauderdale Monkee’s franchise owner, Cori Kritzer.
The boutique caters to women of all ages with a variety of clothing, shoes and accessories from a mix of curated brands. “We strive to ensure that a mother and daughter can shop together and find something stylish, age-appropriate and complimentary to their current phase of life,” says Kritzer.
The store is larger than most boutiques, so you’re more likely to find what you want in one trip. “This allows us to carry a larger selection, which gives our customers more options when they come to shop,” she says. “With the large Monkee’s network of stores, there is stronger buying power that might not exist with single-store boutiques. This allows us to carry certain harder-to-find brands [that] were not previously available in Fort Lauderdale.”
However, for Kritzer, owning a fashion boutique is about more than just selling clothes. It’s about empowering women to feel their best and helping them find clothing to achieve this, especially in urgent situations. “We had been open less than a week when a distraught woman frantically entered the store,” Kritzer recalls. “She was scheduled to go on a week-long vacation to the Caribbean and had ordered an entire week’s wardrobe online from a well-known single-brand store.” Unfortunately for the customer, the seller informed her two days before her scheduled departure that her order was delayed and would not arrive until after she left. “She came to the store and within two hours, she was completely outfitted for her entire trip, including day wear, evening wear [and] formal evening attire.”
This season, Kritzer says she’s excited about trends that are making a comeback. “The resurgence of silver is in full force for fall, and I love the nod to the ‘90s. Silver is complimentary to many skin tones and fabric colors, making it a versatile addition to your fall wardrobe,” she says. “Other fall trends to watch out for are leopard prints, pointed-toe slingbacks and pops of red.”
Whether you’re shopping for a trip or just to treat yourself, Monkee’s is the perfect fit.
